  • 2010 Fat Boy lo Rear Suspension

The dealer told me that I could lower the rear suspension another 3/4 of an inch but I am not sure how to do that? Does anyone know how to go about dropping the rear a little more? This is my girls bike and she would really like to have it a little lower.

Harley used a coil-over shock on yer model......this is what i found on the web

yers is already the lowest model they build with a seat height of 24.25".....going much lower will sacrifice cornering and maybe some comfort......

as soon as you get it up and look under the bike, it should be pretty straight forward

    Instructions Things You'll Need:
    Jack
    Allen key set
Step 1)Lift up the vehicle using the jack and place it on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure before you crawl underneath it.

Step 2)Reach around the tire and access the coil over shock. There is a threaded body on the shock, and at the bottom of the coil there is a adjustable base. On the side of that base, there is a hole for an Allen key. The Allen key is used to lock the bottom mount in place so it doesn't adjust.

Step 3)Place the right sized Allen key from the Allen key set into the hole for the Allen key on the adjustable base. Turn the key to the left, loosening the bolt.

Step 4)Turn the adjustable base by hand. If you want to lift the vehicle higher, then turn the adjustable base towards the top of the shock. If you want to lower the vehicle, turn the adjustable base towards the bottom.

Step 5)Tighten down the Allen key bolt on the adjustable base using an Allen key. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for each coil over shock on the vehicle.

I wouldnt want to go much lower, I have my Fatboy lowered 2 inches and you definitely notice it in the corners. I have been seriously considering raising my back up, at 6'2" tall there is really no need for mine to be lowered other than looks.

Thanks for the input Dub J and Iron....this is my girls bike....she is 5' 1" and needs a little more to make here feel comfortable. I don't want to go any lower really ... I mean the thing is slammed already but I think we are going to put a different seat on it first and see if we can get her a little closer to the road ;) We will see how that works out first!!

have you thought about taking her boots to the little korean shoe repair man and having some 2" heels and soles put on...........raise her up instead of dropping the bike down

Good ideas guys, we might try that too ;) I also thought about having her just let me ride it and then she could sit on my lap backwards...did I just say that??? :)

Swapping out the seat would probably be your best bet. I did that on my RK and it made a heck of a difference.

Thought I would update this post with the final results...didn't want to lower the bike any further because cornering has already become an issue with dragging the floorboards so we ordered a new seat and that didn't seem to help much so we went and had an extra inch added to the soles of her boots and that was the answer. Now she can put her feet down and control the bike much better;)

Thanks again for all of your help!!!

AND if she ever has to get yer attention in a hurry, with the added weight of those boots the momentum will get her noticed
