  • Rain Treatment For Windshields & Helmet Visors

A while back I came across a product called Raincoat.

You can get it here <clicky>.

This stuff works basically like RainX, but is made to work on plastic. (RainX isn't good for plastics.)

I've been using it on the windshields and helmet visors on both bikes. The stuff works like it says it does.

I have nothing to gain / am not an investor / etc / etc.... I'm just a very satisfied customer.

So, if you're gonna ride in the rain and ya have a windshield, get yerself some of this stuff and treat your windshield. It makes a difference!

    Ride safe,

I am suspicious of RainX myself. I sprayed some on and wiped it off as I normally do and for some odd reason, the windshield started to crack and I had to replace it. There is a thread that I asked others HOW did this crack? It probably had some cracks that were not visible and MAYBE with a little pressure when I was cleaning it did it....but it's to coincidental.

    Thanks for the recommendation!

I'll give it a try. It's only $10 with shipping and it's good for plastic. Thanks for the info.

You're welcome! I've made my dad a convert, as well as many people in the FJR world.

Yep - for $10 you can't go wrong with this stuff.

Be sure to use a soft terry-cloth towel when you wipe the stuff off. It'll take a little bit of elbow grease but it WILL come off. Their instructions recommend you avoid using microfiber towels to clean your windshield 'cause the micofiber will remove the coating. The dinky little towel that comes with the kit is damn near worthless, if you ask me.

And I've also tried Motosolutions' other product - the anti-fogging stuff. Note that I did not recommend that as well. Take that for what it's worth.

Rainex is alcohol based. Not recommended for plastics/acrylic.

          Try this:

Clean the windshield with Windex or what ever, wipe it dry, when completly dry rub bar soap all over it. Then wet the windshield with plain water and gently wipe it off. If you want to see how this works at home, do the same with your bathroom mirror and see what happens when you take a hot shower....clean dry glass!

Some say Pledge works well too, or Honda Spray cleaner, if you can find it.

Yep, heard that many times from a lot of old school bikers. And yes, RainX will ruin a windshield.

I use the Harley pop-up windshield wipes and they work great, especially keeping condensation to a minimum. The guy I bought the bike from swore by them and he had three packs, which he gave me. I have no idea of the cost since I haven't bought them or priced them compared to anything else and I may try the product mentioned above when I run out but thought I'd throw that out there.

Yepper's!!! Dave hit it right..... RainX really ain't nothing but Windex (minus the ammonia) with alcohol added......and Pledge works great, just don't use it on HOT PIPES!

I've been using pledge for quite awhile and it's great for every part of the bike. No problems with using on the windshield and the bugs come off easy too. I've heard good things about a product called, bug slide.
