  • 1000 Mile Fluid Changes

I took the Road King out yesterday for the first time since doing the 1000 mile fluid changes (went to see me Mum). I used Mobil1 20W50 for V-Twin in the engine, Spectro Heavy Duty Platinum for 6 speed transmissions in the tranny, and Spectro Heavy Duty Primary Chaincase Oil in the primary. I also changed to a K&P Engineering oil filter. I am pleased to report that shifting is noticeably quieter and easier, with much of the CLUNK gone. Gear whine in fifth, while not gone, is noticeably reduced. Using a different oil in every hole is not as convenient as just using the same thing all the way, and this stuff ain't cheap either, but I am very pleased, so far, with the result.

I switched to Mobil 1, Belray trans oil, and primary oil and have never looked back.

Speaking of which, I'm about 40 miles away from doing my 10,000 mile change......

Well there goes another 70 bucks........ :)

I notice on my 2008 Ultra Classic that in 5th gear it kinda wines I guess you could say, would you say it is a big improvement by using the Spectro?
