  • Harley "Air Temperature" Gauge

What is the use of it specially down South where the temperature can reach 100 degrees?

hmm.. everything I have ever seen about it says it's just for ambient temperatures.. in other words, the temp outside. I heard the glides were comin with em.. and I have also heard that they weren't very accurate. Do you have one mounted in your dash?

Or atleast I think that is what you're referring to. I don't think there are any intake measurements or anything taken on any Harley.

    i reckon its a butt-sweat-o-meter

I have one on the dash and would rather change it out or convert it to read outside temperature instead.

NOPE. Although it is a good spot to put a oil temp gauge.

I would rather have that (oil temp gauge) if the AMBIENT thingie is of no issue...

Don't have a clue as to why H-D put that thing there ??? fuggin useless.. But then again they do know that,so that's why they sell other gauges for that. I could go on and on bout stuff they know yer gunna change, that's why they put most of the stock stuff they do.

                    No huge revelation here tho.

I think they had to balance out the dash with that hole and the temp was the cheapest thing they could put in it. it attempts, I think, to give you a temp not affected by airflow or sun heating the fairing. Have noted if your freezing yur ass off, that knowing how cold it "really is" dosnt help much. visa versa heat.

I changed that stupid air temp gauge for oil temp gauge a long time ago. Stupid, wasted, gauge. They could have made it useful and put a coffee cup on the cold side and a beer can on the warm side. That way I would know when it was beer thirty.
