  • Chain on a BMW motard

I got a buddy on a Beemer and His chain is in great shape but he bitches about the mess of lubing and cleaning it.
So,, there Is a product called "White Lightening" Its a wax based chain Lub for bycycle chains (works with bycycle O-ring chains). This product If applied correctly draws no sand and dosent "sling" off. It Makes bycycle chains last forever, Also makes them virtually silent.

Is there such a product for Motor cycle chain's ? Could this product be used on one ?

Cool,,so as far as you know It can withstand the heat and tension of a street bike and still keep the chain alive for the long haul ??

Yep, my son beat that crap out of that little 600, 100+mph riding back and forth from iowa (about a 3 hour drive for normal people, he could make it in a little under 2 on the bike) it can take it....we used Maxima Chain wax.

ooooo, one little tip, ride the bike around and get the chain warmed up and then put the wax on, seems to stick and lube better

Considering the forces at work on my 500 YZ, and adding the dirt and mud i put it through, the chain wax is the stuff to use....the critical point, is proper cleaning of the chain, prior to applying the chain wax, and allowing it to dry properly before use...

people may cringe at this, but i would take my chains off, set them in kerosene for an hour, scrub them down with a 50 cal. bore brush, dry 'em off and wax 'em up.....i ran a 520 heavy duty "O" ring chain on my 500 yamaha, that was intended for use on a 750 street bike, and the chain went 6 years before i sold the bike to my brother in law....still going i might add..

the lube is important, but the initial chain quality is vital, to get any degree of longevity....Buy a good chain, and do the proper cleaning and lube...

I hear ya Gruss,,He's got 12,000 miles on that bike an chain,,both look showroom new. It seemed a tad loose an he has only adjusted it once himself,,,at 7,000.. Only time the dealer has ever touched it was the 1,000 mile first service.
"Motard" jeez what a name for a class of bikes, lol sounds like Mo turds,,lol.. Its an 800cc Beemer an looks like a dirt bike on steroids. Poor Guy, he turned pale white when He found out he paid the same as me for a low mile bike an couldda had a harley.

used chain wax on my dirt bikes for years. i would believe that mx ing would be a lot harder on the dirt bike than the street bike. never saw a kawi street land in a mud bog and power out for 500 ft. then run down the dusty path all day.
