  • Bought some crash guards... I need some pics plz

I just ordered some factory take-off saddlebag crash guards. I got them for 1/3 the cost of new ones but they dont have mounting hardware. I'll just reuse the hardware from my bag supports but I'll need to buy 4 (2 each side) for the actual guards. Is there any way someone can take off your seat and post up a picture of the upper and lower mounting bolt? I'm pretty sure I know where it mounts but I just want to see what kind of bolt it is. I'd like to just get something from the hardware store.

    Thanks guys...and girls

Are those the same one's that might have the tendency of heating up?

Yep, those are the ones. I just got them because I'm thinking about taking the my department's motor officer school and to see how they look. I'm still getting the stretched bags but that's just gunna be for show.

yea the cops use old fire hose around all the guards to protect chrome if they need to, usually dont worry about it.. Ive used that pipe insulation with some duct tape around that. and honestly Im not sure yur saddlebag guards will even hit when layed over gentle at slow speed. Yur engine guard will take most of it, least on my 07

I spoke to a few guys in that unit and they recommended splitting a garden hose and clamping it on the guards. The 09 must be different because when I went down in a turn over oil the left side bag got a grinding. Thanks for the heads ups on the guards.

I'd Like to hear from somebody who took the R L P cousre on a Sportster,,
I can Turn It real tight,,Complete U-Turn in the Neigborhood streets an all,
Also can almost do a complete circle on the steering stop,,,,but,,
The weave and dip Is still scarin the crap outta me. Going from full left to full right
                      real fast Is hard.
Hard to stop the momentum I build up.
I often stop mid swing an have ta straighten the bars up n punch it..

I'm Turnin my head all the way,,lookin where I wanna go,,
an I'm droppin my shoulder,,and steering with the clutch,,
                      loading the outside peg,,,
                      What am I missing ???

Osco, I just left the dealership getting some service done on the Limited. While I was there I got into a conversation with a Moto Cop and we were talking about the course and training he went through. He said it was real tough but the one thing he learned real fast was it you keep power to the rear wheel the bike will not tip over. He said the trick was to keep the rear brake applied and be sure to keep accelerating with power to the rear wheel and to look where you want to go.

I asked him how many times he dropped the bike learning that and he said he couldn't count them but it was a lot.

                        Good luck.
