  • Whine

Not the box type and not a noise from the bike. A whine from me.

As helpful as this and other forums are it's sometimes frustrating when damn near every subject has complete and opposite opinions. Makes it tough on those of us with a limited number of years of actual experience.

Not that it matters but this particular whine is about tires.

OK....I feel better now even though I'm no closer to a decision. LMAO

    tires............

here's my take on it, Dunlop D402's grip the road good, but don't last. the harder the compound the longer they last, but the softer the compound, the better they grip.

I have never ran them, but have heard alot of good things about Metzlers, and alot of people like Avons, but I also know of some people who say they will never have Avons on anything they own.

    that help any?

Ditto what IH said...I like reading differences of opinion and like everything else in the world bike parts are no different when it comes to opinions and personal experience.

Plus the more info from the experienced the easier it gets to come up with average and majority opinions, all taken with a grain of salt and a drink.

And no....not tequila, why people ruin a good shot with salt and lemon I'll never know.

hello everyone, I have an 08 ultra classic and I'm looking for a new set of tires. I'm considering putting on Metzler ME880 tires. has anyone run these tires and if so how what type of mileage did you get, did you notice any change in handling, braking etc. also how about driving in wet...

                  Thanks

Yep...read that this morning and between the thread here, that thread and some other interneting I came to my conclusion that I wanted to whine a bit.

Next is to decide what tire to put on the back when i get back after this weekend and before the June trip on the Natchez..

i currently have a Kenda Cruiser on the back of my fatboy. It's a cheap no name tire, but I will see how it does. I ran it for about 6000 or 6500 miles on my sportster and it handled good and still looked near new. but a sportster is a lot lighter than a fatboy. I will see how it works out.

Its a thing of beauty.....get that venting out there......advice should always be taking with a grain of salt!!!

Tires are like women, it all depends on how you like em to handle....................

That'll get me in the chit! No offence meant ladies!

I'll try to save you crock.

                        Here's my advice:

Its like so many other things in life - its a tradeoff. Ask questions, listen, try to determine who's full of chit and who might know what they are talkin' about, read, try to determine who's full of chit and who might know what they are talkin' about, and then make a decision. If you're displeased try something diffferent next time.

                        Good luck.

                          Bon ?
There is "nothing" wrong with dunlop tires....The issues they have had in the past are resolved...I'm on my second set, and have nothing bad to say about them at all, other than they suck to change by hand....They are not a "hard" tire, and they are not a "soft" tire. They run well, and will last a very long time with proper inflation, and treatment...

Many other tires fall into the "good tire" realm as well, and it will come down to personal preference for you in the end, but I lean toward what the MOCO uses from the factory, and have not been let down.....just my .02.........g

I don't have any wrenching advice to offer, but more so riding experience with many long road trips and well over 200,000 miles on Harleys....

I don't like the Stock Dunlops that come on most Harleys, they are the cheapest Dunlop can make to fill a bid. There are other tires that Dunlop make that are actually pretty good. So that is the difference I see there.

I do like my Metzlers and with them always being available thats what I have gone with most of the time.

I don't believe in buying cheap tires.....its one of the most important parts of a bike, when I see people buying the cheapest tire they can or riding on tires that should have been replaced a long time ago, and then they turn around and spend $1000 on chrome or $2000 on a fancy paint job, I gotta wonder what they got between the ears!
