ooops, guilty here, well sorta, I don't wear tennis shoes riding, but jeans, T shirt and eye protection, that be about it, unless it is cold and I wear a jacket, or really cold and/or raining and I wear assless chaps
hehe, I think I got to use the word assless chaps before anyone else here

I ride as you, never with sneakers, but I gotta wear a helmet(law)... Speaking of assless chaps(2nd to mention !) I got mine on now, with a pair of flannel lined jeans coz it's a bit cold here and I'm soon out the door for a ride... I also like keeping the rubber side on the pavement...

Definitely, can't you tell how tough he looks in that photo? I wear engineer boots (I'm old school - okay just old) and my leather as deep into the the heat as possible and then some. Sucks to be sweating all over myself, but, when I get home, at least I can shower without pain.

The one thing I remember most from the MSF course is RISK vs CONSEQUENCE! They did not preach nor did they ask about anyones choices in gear but did explain, the more risk you take the higher the consequence, as long as you accept the consequence of the risk then the amount of safety gear any one person wears will come down to how much consequence you are willing to accept with your amount of risk. And given that, the best protection against a motorcycle accident is NOT to get on one in the first place!

I always wearing boots, gloves, eye protection, but I've been a little lax in wearing a helmet if I'm going less then 4 or 5 miles. Should know
better from my broadside accident 22 years ago.

Sounds like you had the same luck as me... All three of my bike accidents were collisions with cages within 3 miles of my house...

OWEEEOWEEEEOWEEEEE
A guy here in town was riding his Honda elsinor and bragging what a good dirt rider He was, wering cutoffs and thongs{on His feet},not ten minutes later he dumped it doing a wheelie across a plank floored bridge, next time I see`s Him He has big old chunks of hide missing from His ass cheek and slivers galore.
I must add that for as young as I was I was/still am into wearing clothing while riding and I got to add the comment "I told You so" as I was working in a gas station and had warned Him about riding and clothing not ten minutes before His wreck.
After seeing that it just cemented in Mine mind the importance of rugged clothing and riding.
