Winterizing

I have a 2008 Street Bob and I was wondering if I should add some fuel stabilizer right before I put the bike up for the winter? I've heard both sides and one says add it and the other says just make sure I have a full tank of gas.

I appreciate the help.

-service the bike ( fresh oil )
-add Stabil run it enough that its in the fuel system.
-hook it up the battery tender.

That is basically what I do to anything that I store or put up for extended periods of time.

In the OLD DAY's when I lived up north, I just drained the tank/carb and put in fresh gas in the spring!


But that was when mountains where still mole hills!!!

I'd wait on the battery until a week before riding....

I say add stabilizer! I use it on our large generator that sits longer without being touch and of course on a tender too! When needed, it fires right on up!

I do all these before winter, except changing the oil. I like to run it a day in the spring then change it. Def need to wash it and wax real good to protect the paint and any chrome. Stabil works great! I let my bike run long enough to get in the carb and stored it for winter in '08 i was then deployed to iraq till sept '09. I left it stored until spring this year and it fired up on the second push of the button! also if you are storing it anywhere mice may be present be sure to plug the pipes with something. I fired mine up one time after winter and a bunch of dog food came out!

Thanks Brother and thanks to everyone for your information. I just had all the fluids changed and in a day or two I'll top off and add some sta-bil that I bought last year and never used. One of the techs at my dealer mentioned parking the bike tires on carpet while it's stored in the garage? Thanks HERD!

got mine on carpet year round...luckily i have never had to winterize

i thnk 3 1/2 weeks is the longest they have sat through the winter
