Well, I did what I said I wasn't going to do...buy a Brand new bike.
Went to the dealer to just look since it was Sunday and I figured it
would be slower traffic, but it wasn't. Checked the new bikes and
thought I didn't want to spend that much, then found a 2004
Lowrider that was pretty nice. Well taken care of, 20,000 miles,
drag bars and reamed out stock pipes. Ended up taking it for a ride.
It wasn't too bad, but a little cramped with the forward seat on it.
Went back down stairs to look at the new ones again. Found a
2011 SuperGlide brand new for only about 3500 more. They even
let me take it for a ride. it was showing 5 miles when we rolled it
out the door. Wow, what a ride. The only thing wrong was it was
toooooooo quiet. They said no problem we can fix that. They had
some nice Vance&Hines slip on that they said they could install Today!
Well that pushed me all the way in, so a couple of hours later, a small
Good Bye to the Sporty and off I rode on my new Super Glide.
I still can't wipe the smile off my face. This is my first brand new bike since 1988, and my first new HARLEY.
I used their finacing, but I'm going to go tomorrow to my broker and sell off some stocks and then pay the loan off.
I generally wouldn't do something so foolish with my "retirement"
future, but you know, I got to thinking alot last week about that.
I started thinking your supposed to have fun when you retire, your
supposed to get to do those things you really like to do and have fun
like you did when you were a kid. I have a few ex coworkers that
are my age that havn't faired all that well health wise, and that got me to thinking, and weighing heavily on my mind. I'll be 61 years old in about 2 weeks. I figure, Lord willing, I probably only have about 8 or
9 more years to really get out and ride, that's if the Lord lets me be here that long. I figured I'd hate to die unhappy not doing the things
I really loved and enjoying life just so I could have a bunch of money
set back to retire on...........or spend on Hospital bills, etc.
Starting to feel a bit vulnerable in my old age. Anyway, I just wanted
to share my joy with you guys, and Thank You for letting me,
Regards Sonny
