  • Bike came home in a trailer last night

Broke the master link. Chain kinda wadded up around the drive sprocket and trashed my shifter. Crap. Best riding weather of the year and I'm wrenchin'
Went out yesterday with two friends to grab a burger and a beer at at this place about 100 mile away. stopped for a smoke at this spot that has a shade tree (A rare thing out here) As I was pulling back on the road and shifted into 2nd gear the chain came apart.

And both of my spare master links were in my tool box at home.

Well that sucks, at least you had some shade. I quit using mater links on my chain bikes along time ago. Always
had too many problems. I just rivet them on when I replace them anymore. At least it didn't wind around the rear
sprocket and bind it up at speed!!!!!!!!!
    Regards Sonny

MEEE TOOOOO,usually braks cause they just wore out, sometimes a master link will fail if You gets the retainer on with the splitend pointin into the direction of rotation, always install with the splitend pointing down wind,so to speak kinda sorta.

                    Found my master link.

I guess the retainer thingy did come off.

These little dings are messing up the shifter.

No more master links for me. Getting a new chain and a rivet kit.
