  • Grand Canyon Loop slide show

Here are about 70 of 715 pictures we took of our trip through Zion, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Jerome and Bullhead City. 10 days total, 6 riding. 1550 miles give or take, and only a couple of hours of bad weather.

Love the pics. Having seen the Grand Canyon in person it's always hard to explain how pictures just don't do it justice. If you haven't stood there and actually looked at it, add it to your bucket list. It really is awe inspiring........

You are so right! Obviously pictures are FLAT! Hard to believe the canyon is 11 miles wide. Vesta and I have done this ride several times and just can't get enough. There are so many roads and different ways to get there and back, always seems like a new ride. I can't say enough about Arizona Hwy. 83a, the scenic route. From around 2000 feet to over 7,000 and back..... several times.

When we went we drove on Hwy 89 I believe, up through Marble Canyon and followed that up all the way to Zion through Kanab. From Zion we went up to Bryce and the next day we did my favorite drive in that part of the country. Go up Highway 12 from Bryce about 75 miles and you'll come into a little town called Boulder (Hwy 12 is pretty awesome also). In Boulder you'll see a sign for the Boulder-Bullfrog Bypass. It's gravel/dirt and actually takes you down into the canyons. Most amazing drive I've done. Google maps shows it as the "Burr Trail" and it looks paved now so that would be even better. Here's a few shots I stole from google maps to whet your appetite..........
Yep, if you look close there's a road down there.....

I typo'd, it is 89a that runs through Marble Canyon, and Fredonia. You pick up Hwy 89 there to Kanab. First year we left Page Az in the morning, it was 85* By the time we hit Kanab we had stopped 3 times to put clothes on, and it started snowing at the gate in Kanab! Couldn't have been prettier riding through Zion in a light snow storm! As I recall, it was April!
