I just buy "Mechanix" brand gloves from Lowes... they're cool black mesh (velcro closure) on back and suede palms and grips.
        'Bout $12 for 3 pairs...

But that'd be a cool place to spend some foolish money, fer sure!

Sounds like a VERY cool day Osco. You ever run Aligator Alley cross state? I lost a headlight doin' that back in '73. Couldn't see chit! Kept waitin' to hit a big gator crossin' the road. I was never so glad to see the lights of civilization...!

Yeah,,now my Gator story,,,It's bad but It did show me some people with real guts ready to commit a selfless act,,,here goes,,
Was on the Alley doin bout 80,,grossin 70,000 a few cars way way out front,,,
Then It happend,,,a car, big station wagon flippin end over end into the canal on one side.
The two other cars behind stopped and another trucker stopped,,an I'm breakin easy and stoppin.
Got there,,school papers all over the place, hundreds,,,It was a teacher,
Old trucker standin there was holdin a page,,a school test.
Then I saw the other three guys commin up for Air, they were tryin to get her out.
The canal was deep, car was all under an upside down.
Now the hero part,,,two of the largest Gators , both 10 ft plus layin on the bank,,and one about six foot swimin closer.
The Old trucker was holdin a 38,,he fired once and the 6 foot Gator hauled ass.
the Three guys went back down,,came up for Air and two went back down, the Other guy was commin out In tears.
They couldn't get her out,,car was deep in the mud,,
They saw the Gators, didn't even slow em down. Heros all,

Afterwards I told them,,"Gators I know, the 6 footer was the only threat and not much of one"
Then one who kept goin back down saw the two bigs ones,,,he lost his lunch right there,,freaked him out.
The trooper showed up Just as the last guy was commin out,,then the 6 footer appeard bout 12 feet behind him, on the move.
The old man Hit him with the 38. I heard the bullet hit, the trooper finished him off with a full magazine from his 45.
Boy was I wrong I figgerd the six footer was long gone after the old man fired that first shot.
The two big one's on the other side in the sun,,in the sand,,still had not moved,,,
                    true story.
The world lost a teacher that day, we saw the car when they towed it out. four bald tires, She couldn't afford decent tires,,and blew one.

Man Osco, that's a sad story....great there were good people there to try and help and willing to risk their lives to save another. It's unfortunate that their efforts did not materialize into a rescue

Sad way to go. That 6' gator acted like some of the young kids would act. Thinking they are invinsable While the other 2 sat and watched the heroic rescue attempt.

What a sad story to be sure, but as mentioned above, it's nice to know we still have Hero's in the world. Those average every day people are pretty amazing in a pinch......Kinda like "HERD" folk when you think about it.................g
