  • Shifting meh!!!

After going through town setting off all the car alarms (annoying, it doesn't do it if I ride close to the center line), I got out on the open road only to discover I can't really hear whether I am over or under RPM's in any given gear. My pipes may be a bit loud. Since I am still under the 500 mile mark, I don't want to run it wrong. Any suggestions that don't involve changing exhaust? :new1I try to follow the manuals suggested shift speeds, but it doesn't feel right. Is additional vibration normal for starting a higher gear in a lower RPM?

ease out on clutch while twisting throttle, when rev limiter kicks in roll off throttle, pull in clutch and shift and repeat

To be honest, I'm not quite sure how to tell. I never had this issue with my Sportster.

I just broke my pig in a few months ago. I found that the suggest shifting speeds were far too slow, I usually added 5 to 10 depending on the gear. I know that I shift whenever I feel like it and now that its broke in I run it out to make it as loud as possible. At least you know when you downshift at too high of speed....the rear wheel lets you know that...haha

I was thinking the same thing. I went out riding with the manuals suggested shift speeds in mind. They seemed way too low.

I do feel this when using the suggested shift speeds.

I just can't figure out why they don't put a tach on most of the new bikes. The MoCo has done everything possible to attract new customers. They ain't like riding anything else.

It's just a matter of time, and you will feel the bike, for speed, shifting and such...................

like the rest of the HERD said, its a feeling, it'll come to ya...sometimes riding by the lake, i'll be in 5th gear at 30 mph and just lugging along........potato potato potato

doesn't hurt anything on the fatty(carb), cant really do that on the glide(injected)
