  • Question about posting etiquette -- between this forum and harley-davidsonforums.com?

May I post technical topics (questions about service, problems, etc.) on here and on harley-davidsonforums.com? I know I can but I don't want to make anyone angry by doing so. I like this forum but I also like HDF. I've been doing a lot of reading on this forum and I like what I read, but I'm not one to post on many off-topic threads -- I do it occasionally but I'm mostly interested in technical info. One day I'd also like to give out advice instead of just taking all the time, but maybe that will come with time.

Seems OK to me...I post on both sites....with technical and other stuff....when you're looking for answers, it's good to ask as many people as possible....The HERD is our home, but we all travel....

I don't think any members would get pissed at anyone for asking a tec question, hell if you don't know and never ask how are you supposed to learn.

I know I've always gotten good answers to my questions.

I post on both sites w/out prejudice. Thats where the HERD started. And still have friends over there who don't come here.

I've gotten good advise from both sites. But I have a short attention span so I mainly stick here.

OK. Thanks for the replies. When I have a question I will post in both places.

I belong to 4 H-D related sites (with my same user ID) but I've settled into just posting on 2 -- here and HDF -- with an occasional post on the XL forum.

Yeah Jason, I can see where posting a bunch of pics twice would get old.

Like some others, I post on 2 or 3 HD sites.

Tim - That's the difference between the Harley-Davidson forum and this one. We wanted the freedom to talk trash, talk pets or any other subject while still finding and/or asking technical advice. And we do it very well and without hesitation.

The other forum wanted to stay on point and talk about Harley-Davidson all day long or at least try to stay on topic. You really can't control the trash but if you can figure all of the HERD members over there and what we post about, you can see where it gets top heavy.

Post up anything you want as you will see most in here will have a similar interest and if it's technical, you will also find that someone will have the knowledge to help you.

Have at it.....I can't think of any smart-assed thing to say at the moment though...but it's early Monday morning...gimme a bit.
It's not "derailed", as long as the last post relates to the post above it...it's just on a different rail, heading into a more interesting direction

Thanks Boss! Oh, I can talk trash once in a while and it doesn't bother me if a thread goes off topic -- as long as I get at least a couple of straight-forward answers or advice. I think it's just human nature to wander from subject to subject -- that's how it works in normal conversation.
