Lee....... If ya ain't the lead dog... the view never changes....
The Dude who ran my Rider's edge course Dropped His dresser doin 45,,drop it hard. leaned it on a Man hole cover, was In a hurry,,an he knew better, can happen to anybody.
Anyways some bag damage, handlebar damage and lots of other parts, BUT the bike Is totalled because of frame damage where the crash bar was mounted.
Yup I saw the Bike and It was clear, the crash bar upper mount location tweaked the frame bigtime.
I dunno bout crash bars anymore,,,,,,,
I was looking at some bikes sunday and checked out the mounting positions, one of the guys said if you ever go down you'll be glad you had them.
Ill second that.
Appalachian Redneck
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used and worn out, loudly proclaiming, "WOW!!! WHAT A RIDE!!!"
Well, I didn't want to put them on my Night Train because I thought they would ruin the lines of the bike. I put them on anyway -- stock H-D part. I still think they look goofy but maybe they will save my legs and parts of the bike if I ever dump it.
I just put mine on for extra foot positions and love em. I was getting a little cramped up on longer rides because i was locked into just having my feet on the foot boards. put on the engine guards and highway pegs and I love em.
I have em on my bike as well, I never thought I would want em, but there was bars on my bike when I bought it. took em off once, and honestly, I thought it looked better with em on
alot on the open road, I use the highway pegs alone, but even at slow speeds and around town, I can't ride comfortably with my feet on teh floorboards, I usually have my heels on the boards and my toes on the highway pegs...like this picture
I didn't like the looks of the crash bar on the WG so I decided to get the Kuryakyn Mustache bar. I wanted the foot position more than I wanted to protect the bike if I spill. The clamp on the frame and I do love them. Their fully adjustable to whatever position you want and they're less expensive than a crash bar. I got mine from eBay from they Kuryakyn outlet for $100 and got the pegs from Josh. Dixie has one also and you probably saw them at HERDSTOCK.
Here are some pics.....
