Just wondering at what point do you decide to shut down your ride when you are expecting a delay in moving? For example road work(repaving) with one lane shut down and each direction has to take turns using the one lane. Is it after 5 minutes, shorter or longer than that? Should that time vary on different engines or would it be the same?

When Do You Shut It Down?

I usually wait about 10-15 minutes. Keep in mind, your engine actually will increase a few degrees in temp after shutting down, due mass metal heat and now, lack of circulating oil.
My hydraulic tappets will click even more after shutting the engine down hot and restarting it 10 minutes later, vs just leaving it run.....
This is where water cooled bikes with a temp controlled theremostat works superior over air cooled machines.**Note: The technical info I provide is suggestive. I am not a perfeshunel.

My fans are powerful as hell, like a heatwave coming off of the engine....slow moving "parades" have actually gotten my temp light to come on, and I was making moves to get my legs farther away from my engine....can't imagine how hot the aircooled engines around me were, at that point...which is usually when I start seeing those bikes pulling over and shutting down. It's not "derailed", as long as the last post relates to the post above it...it's just on a different rail, heading into a more interesting direction

I would only shut it down when I'm sitting at a very slow freight train and there is no way around it. I can sit there for 15-20 minutes sometimes.......x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---x

I guess I'm pleased with my PCIII tune up to liveable AFR ,, no hot legs the whole trip,,, construction, stoplights .. Think I'll still try to get a Jagg oil coolin system though.
Actually the suckest most redicules stoppage was in MISS ,, pickup was over the side of a guard rail ,,we found out when we got close, think it had traffic backed up close to a mile never turned the engine off but I was worryin.. Thought one lane was closed but when we FINALLY got there both lanes was open,, cop was just parked to the side.. It was just ignorant fuggars slowing down to gauk. Stupid cagers
Five miles down the road we actually did come to a coned "left lane closed" and sailed through it around 55-60THE NEGATIVE ONE no better don't click
