  • DIY RoadGlide Vent covers

Was looking for something to cover the lower vents in the fairing because when they're open all kinds of debris/bugs...wasps, bees, etc... get through them. Well I found a site that makes vents to go in there but they charge $100.00 for the privilege of using their product! .

I got to looking at it and thought you know it could be done WAYYYY cheaper if I do it myself. so I went down to Lowes and bought some metal snap in gutter guard for grand total of a $3.00 investment, made a template, and cut them out myself.

I then removed the outer fairing and the small black side bezels around the headlight and fit the covers in the vent. Now nothing with a stinger will be able to get through and get me when I open the vent lol.

Figured out why my left vent wouldn't open lol...

Cool, I have thought about doing this myself. I actually looked at decorative metal in Lowes but a 18 x 24 sheet was expensive. How did you attach the screen so that it doesn't fall out ?

Here is a video that shows how to do it. You can buy the screens from Klockwerks for $75-$100 or buy the gutter screen in my pic above for $3.00 and cut them out yourself.

here is the template I used if you want to print it off, you can also just use a piece of paper to trace it when you take your fairing off, you'll see just how they fit in there.

And for about $50 / hour I'll model them up with 3D software and send the drawing files over to Mark.

Mine are done, easy enough, I also tightened my power port up while I had the fairing off , it was loose. Thanks again Josh.

Gotta love low dollar fixes. :-) For 100 dollars an hour I'll set up your plc's and scada to work until I pull out of the driveway. :-)
