  • Harley's New VVT V-Twin Engine

HD filed a patent for a new design variable VVT (variable valve timing) engine. This could be a new engine for the Sportsters since the current engine doesn't meet strict euro standards and HD will not be allowed to sell the current Sportsters anywhere in Europe by the end of the year.

I would like to learn more about the reviews once it's on the road.

Be interesting to see how they turn out (power, reliability, etc.) once they're out in the real world for a year or two.

I like how they show so much detail about the design.

If there isn't any flaws in the design and the manufacture of the VVT components, there should be no problems with the system. VVT is not a new concept.
Now let us just hope that they dont think they need the system to drop a cylinder when its not necessarily needed.

I saw this elsewhere too...... I guess they had to do something about the Sporty. There is no way HD can afford to lose all those European sales because they had an ancient motor in a complete lineup.

Well...judging by how readily every other “new” engine has been accepted by “The Faithful” I’m sure the reviews will be overwhelmingly positive lol!

I wasn't an immediate convert to the Evo or the Twinkie , or the five speed , or rubber mounts , and many others , still hate the belt final drive

Bet there will be a corresponding price jump in the Sportster line with this launch. I'm thinking that mid-80's engine design is one of the bigger reasons for keeping the price down.
