  • LED Light Replacements

Any of you guys replace your tail lights or blinkers with LEDS?

Where did you get them from? How much were they? Do they last long? I would like to replace mine with something brighter.. so I'm just wondering what everyone elses opinions are before I spend the money.

    Thanks!

Well I replaced the tail light with the LED one the MOCO sells. It was 139 buckaroonies but well worth it. Its brighter and I don't have to worry about that filament breaking and having no brake light. There is cheaper options available at many different places (J&P, Kuryaykn, and others) I haven't done the turn signals yet only because I don't want to hack into the wiring to add the load equalizers that will be required in order for the signals to work properly.

Just make sure you don't buy a cheap set. My brother-in-law installed a cheap set in his Street Glide, and it wasn't very bright. It made me very uncomfortable riding behind him because I couldn't see his brake light during daylight hours. Night wasn't a problem, but during the day was a different story.

Thanks for all the help and information guys..

Autotec, thats exactly why i asked this question. I didn't want to end up buying something thats not as bright as what I have now.. that would defeat the whole purpose.

Still shoppin a round.. I'll post up whatever I end up getting.

Is the smoked lens brighter than the red lens?

Before I bought mine from the dealer I was able to go to another dealer and they had a display set up where you could see how bright they were. To me they were the same so I chose the smoked lens with the chrome housing.

I was just wondering if there was an advantage of one over the other. Thanks for the info.

Mine is pretty bright but I can't say if the other is brighter or not. I do know that a friend has the Panacea rear light that has the turn arrow built into it...nothing but trouble. Half the time only parts of it work. He got it off of eBay and I'm not positive that it's a Kuryakyn item.
