A little off topic but I gotta say a 6 speed in a Shovel would be cool. Big bucks though. Don't know anyone in my area running a 6 speed in a Shovel. Man... that would be the chit. well Marty, the power house transmissions follow right in line with the other major brands out there...I.E. baker, andrews etc.
with yours being a 4 speed, it was obviously designed for the pre-5 speed era, and although the trans is a bit older, the right side drive types were built for a larger rear tire accomodation, and incorporated tight fit gearing, and heavy duty brass shift components...all in all, a good unit..
they are still available in the 5 speed, and 6 speed configurations, ranging $1200 to $ 2700 dollars, based on type and finish...

Was going to do some cleaning on the trans. and come across this tag.
I did run it through the gears and it is a four speed.
