well Marty, the power house transmissions follow right in line with the other major brands out there...I.E. baker, andrews etc.
with yours being a 4 speed, it was obviously designed for the pre-5 speed era, and although the trans is a bit older, the right side drive types were built for a larger rear tire accomodation, and incorporated tight fit gearing, and heavy duty brass shift components...all in all, a good unit..
they are still available in the 5 speed, and 6 speed configurations, ranging $1200 to $ 2700 dollars, based on type and finish...

A little off topic but I gotta say a 6 speed in a Shovel would be cool. Big bucks though. Don't know anyone in my area running a 6 speed in a Shovel. Man... that would be the chit. Yeah, the 6 speed has been around for a while, wish it was around when I had mine. I need a Shovel.

After finding problems witht he engine cases I have decided to go with some S&S gen cases,run an alternator and use the gen accesory drive for a Super Charger.:rubberdown
