  • Weekend ride with the wife

So....we had a three day weekend ride and as some of you know it was a "go that general direction" ride. Mrs B decided Thursday evening that she was excited about leaving with no plan, surprised me but made it all that much better.

We head north Friday morning in beautiful sunshine ....and by 10 or so it was solid cloud cover. :-(

Long story short we end up in Atlantic Beach, NC Pretty cool but very touristy. Put down a little over 350 miles getting there but were on the bikes all day...lot of traffic areas going up there.

We start looking for a motel and discover that you have 2 basic choices up there....200 plus a night Hilton type or the old 50's style motel with little to no ammenities. We have no problem with the old type...but...off season prices...??? $101.00 a night!! WTF?

Anyway...we check in and they tell us they are kid friendly and have a redneck Disney World out by the beach...pics to follow. LOL Please note the pic of me and the pic of the "artwork" in the room.....

Great dinner and a good nights sleep. Unfortunately the next morning while sunny brought a huge threat of rain as the front moving across the country picked up some speed. We decided to be smart and headed home. Road in and out of showers, on and off wet roads and spent most of the trip in rainsuits but still had a great ride.

As we were getting to the by=pass around Myrtle Beach we saw a group of bikes....had to be over 100...awesome sight and sound!! Sadly one of the bikes went down on the by-pass...we didn't stop as there were two cages and 10 or so of the bikes stopped plus another four or five pulling away and we have no idea what happened but that was a section where it was raining and there were a lot of big puddles on the road...have to assume a swerve or a hydroplane deal. It was a wide open three lane nearly empty so I doubt the cages had anything to do with it. Hope that rider is OK.......

No pics of that as we were riding but I did get one pic on the way home of a "bike" at the gas station...uhhh.....speechless as you can see from the pic. Anyone know what kind of bike that is???

Pics are in a random order but they make sense...LOL

Decided to add this pic because other than the sunshine in the pic of the bikes in the driveway before we left this is about the only other sun we saw...Saturday morning at a Marina at Emerald Isle which is south of Atlantic Beach about 30 minutes or so...

That's what I guessed but I've never seen one so I wasn't sure and too lazy to look on the net. LOL

I know...I know....it's tacky to talk trash about others choices in style and color...but DAMN man....even a matching outfit??????

I just went to ridley website and either they haven't updated the site since 2007, production is so slow the 2007 model was just released, or they went out of business.

Even with the weather it still looks like you still had a good time. Myrtle Beach area is good, but the Beaufort area is better. Try it next time.

We made it to the edge of Beaufort and planned to look around Saturday and head up to Cedar Island. Looked real nice up there but the weather didn't give us time.

We've been to Myrtle enough that it's only a drive through to us to get somewhere else. LOL
