On Saturday I did the St. Baldrick's Cruzin' 4 Kids charity run. If you remember back in April my son got his head shaved for this charity who supports kids with cancer. Well my kids were all busy and the wife said I could go since it was supposed to rain on Sunday so I head out to Bolingbrook and signed up. There was a good number of bikes there of all makes and it was hot (90+ and humid) but a nice day for a ride. We rode from Bolingbrook up to Sycamore, IL and stopped for refreshments. The next leg was a ride down to Starved Rock State Park and then back to Bolingbrook.
Here are some shots from the beginning and the first break.
It wasn't that great of an event. While it was a nice ride and the route was good the people there were not particularly friendly. One old fart drove his Kawasaki Vulcan into a ditch that was softer than my mattress at home. I helped him get the bike upright and back on the road. Leaving Bolingbrook we were all together in a line and the police escorted us out of town. At the first stop there was nobody telling folks how long we'd be there and when we were leaving so people just started going whenever they wanted. I hooked up with a small group to the second stop and the same thing happened there also. After a little while I bugged out and just followed the route back home.
Could have been a good event with some better organization but to me it was pretty bad. Maybe I was the only one there who actually wanted to ride my bike and not just sit in a bar on a nice hot day..........
