  • Old Rt. 66

Got out for some much needed wind therapy today. Decided to take back roads and wind my way north a bit and ended up taking a trip on part of old Rt. 66. I sure am glad I have suspension on my bike...This section of the historic old highway is barely maintained. Rough does not even begin to describe it. I did end up get a few good pics though.

mothman333 Mural - zimazoo Scott pointed these out to me, this local Oklahoma artist paints these murals, a lot of them along rt. 66.

Terrific, Josh! Glad you got out and around. I am so lacking in seat time.

I've heard the old Route 66 is fading fast, and in some areas, has virtually disappeared.

10 years or so ago, I was in Oklahoma City for a couple days concepting and quoting a job, and after lunch one day, I had to run across the road to get a pic of the Route 66 sign outside the diner. The (young) guys prolly thought I was nuts.

I was a bit young to understand a lot of the TV show, but I'd always watch, just to see the Corvette.

Here's my only brush with the Mother Road, heading to Brian's house during Herd IV.

Thank You Josh for sharing the ride. Areas of he USA some of us peoples will never get to see.
That Mothman mural is really something. I would think it took at least a day to paint all of that.
3/4 mile long bridge back in the 30s would have been one heck of a feat.

Can we go there next time we are up there? Or have we been through that route already?

We can, I haven't gone that route with yall before but we can definitely do it. I'm not sure if we'll still have it this year or not, we're kinda watching what happens with all the states opening back up.

We ride a stretch in Illinoise for about 5 miles. It was divided with a grass strip in the middle. It was being preserved, picnic tables, park like. Right next to it was a "main drag", traffic, lights, stores.
I's like to ride the whole thing someday.
