  • First Fishing Trip

Went to my normal lake for some spring fishing. This is the earliest I have been fishing in a few years. It payed off. The big ones were coming up getting ready to spawn but not quite there yet. I saw a few small males getting beds ready.

I caught this 3 lb Bass when I first got there on a spinnerbait in about 3ft of water.

I caught this 7 lb Bass in a little deeper water on a crankbait!

Thanks Dan! It was 23 inches long but skinny. She hadn't been up long and hadn't been feeding much yet. She could have easily went 8 lbs if she had been feeding much. I don't normally keep my fish but I kept her. Going to have her mounted. I caught her in a lake in Ohio.

Regardless of how skinny that fish is it still looks impressive to Me.
Now I am hoping they get the boat finished sometime this week.

Well skinny or not its better than any fish I have caught. I usually end up empty handed, but then again it helps to have some form of lure or bait at the end of the line instead of a sinker. I usually fish for the the experience of drinking not catching.

I know 3 kinds of people that fish, those that do it to get away from their wifes, those that do it to drink, and those that do it for the previous 2 reasons!

Nice largemouths! I need to get out and do some fishing! If you ever get out this way, I have a really good spot on the Snake River for really nice smallmouths and the occasional largemouth and crappie...

What lake in Ohio would that be, J? Or are you one of those secretive fishermen? Around here your fishin' hole and mushroom patch are more closely held secrets than your bank account and SSN!

                                    Thanks everyone!

                                    Thanks for the invitation Steve.

Brian and V, no eating the 7lber.It is going on the wall. I can catch a mess of smaller ones to clean and eat. I will probably have a mess of fish and frog legs as a summer cookout!

Superhog, it is a gated community private lake outside the small town of Russellville.

There is an open invitation to any Herd member to come along with me if you are ever in my area.
