Spent $3,500.00 last summer replacing my central air and heating system, now the stupid thing isn't working. The guy that did the installation has vanished so I am having to pay someone else to fix it. They have already located one leak and told me that the return vent the guy had put in was way to small. How can people take some ones hard earned money as tenure for a service rendered and give them crappy workmanship.

That is a crapper that it's not working! Specially now that it's getting warmer outside. $3500 sound way to cheap as all the quotes that I have gotten are in the $8 to $10k mark. So.....I said, let wait another year.....

yeah it sucks...ya try to take people at their word but all you get are scams. I get it all the time here someone asks me why i am so expensive and I tell them that I'm cheaper than having to pay for it twice! on the return vent tho. we just designed a central air unit for my business partners house. the guy we used said it had to be at least 8 in square. I argued with him that Cuft air flow is the same wheather you use rectangle or multiple openings. he waas taught that the only way was one big opening. some schools don't teach people to think outside the box. ask what the reccommended vent size is and do some calculations. you ma be suprised that the CFM can be fixed easily by adding a vent and y pipe."your not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on!"

when i replaced mine 2 years ago, the "cost" for contractors was just over 900 bucks for the furnace, and "A" coil.....its amazing how much labor is factored into the jobs these guys are doing...granted, they deserve a fair price, but to mess up a job and still make 400 percent, seems a bit un-ethical to me......
guess it beats a campfire and a block of ice though...LOL !!U.S. Army "Retired"

Well I have cold air now!!! $193.00 dollars later. Turns out the Schroeder valves was leaking at the unit outside and all refrigerant was lost. The current repair guy seems straight up. He found the leak, pulled a vacuum and went to track down a bottle of the new R-410A gas. Vacuum held steady for 4 hours till he returned and juiced her up. So I lost a days vacation, $193.00 dollars in repair cost all because some jack leg didn't check the freaking valve when he removed his gauges. Well, at least I can sleep tonight with out my nads sticking to my leg. lolHERD MEMBER #00027
