So after hanging around the other forum and now here I recognize many user names and to a certain extent know several of you by you screen name and some by you avatars. Question is, what is your username all about? Some appear pretty obvious, for example Dave63. I'm assuming his nameis Dave for real. I'll start with mine, Roman numerals that are my assigned badge number at work.

Nothing too mysterious about mine. LOL
But there is a little more to it. When I was in HS a good friend nicknamed me Banzai...and both words are mispronounced to sound the same. He called me that because I never hesitated to jump right in...to anything, anytime, anywhere, head first and with both feet.
Fast forward a few years i became fascinated with Bonsai....wasn't until I got married and settled a little that I started growing them.
So I've had the name in one spelling or another for close to 35 years even though the meanings are polar opposites.#00038 MAY HE REST IN PEACE!
I listen to the voices in my wives head that tell her to tell me what to do.

Mine is a little more serious I guess. When I got out the the Navy and got divorced from my first wife I spent a few years looking for something, didnt know what but was just looking. I rode a lot and rode most of thsoe miles alone cause I didnt like nor did I want to be around people. So basically I was just chasing the wind for a few years, hence the name which I have had used for years. Now that I actually see it typed out I dont know if it even makes sense but it always made sense in my head, course a lot of stuff makes sense in my head but no where else.Herd Member #87

When I first got on the internet in 95. I wanted [email protected] for my email address. It was already taken so I decided to try and make it shorter. Came up with [email protected]. I always like to start converasion, so because people have to take a second look and ask?So that helps. I've been in the diamond cutting biz for about 34 years. Being 44 Most people think about retiring. I still have many, many more years to go.Proud Herd Member #00094

Everyone called me by my initials JJ as i was growing up, everyone except my grandpa on my moms side. He called me DoubleJ and as i got older with my family being in the trucking business on both sides that name turned into my C.B. handle and it kinda stuck.

was always a big kid, a bit of a trouble maker, shit stirrer. Was always "makin waves" or "rockin the boat" so my buddies in high school started calling me davey wavey (my god given name is Dave) didnt like the davey part much so after a couple of ass whoopings (mine mostly) the wave part stuck so they just called me wave or waveman. The waveman would not fit on the plates on my truck or bike so i shortened it to wavman, the 8 was the next number in line when i went ot get my hotmail account. Plus I make a hell of a splash when i hit the water!!HERDSTER #00115

"Paladin" was the radio callsign given to me by some of my troops when I was a convoy commander in Iraq. One of my guys said "have gun, will travel" and the rest is history...-Steve, MSgt USAF

Mine is based on the crustacean "Menippe mercenaria" I commercial fished for these critters for many years off the florida keys.
I fished for them by myself and had about 4K crab traps at one time. I'd pull 300 to 350 traps a trip and man that's a whole lot like work I don't care who you are! <Grin>
I loved that life style but It's not something for the weak minded or timid as Mother Nature and King Neptune would throw ya curve balls every now and again just to keep it interesting out there on the open water. Being 40+ miles offshore you had to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Being that my life has been what it's been I can relate to them somewhat. Tough critters no matter their size and they never give up! Not when trapped, not even after you've removed their claws as they can still pinch/crush your fingers doing some major damage. They're ornery critters for sure. Want to find out how so? Open a trap full and try and get them out and keep your fingers when every one of em is pissed off (crabby) and ready for action! It's even more fun when the weather is bad and it's all you can do to stand up, not fall out the boat and keep from landing your hands into an open trap full by accident, they wont miss a chance like that for pay back, I guarantee it! Now that's exciting! That to me was fun! Some can easily crush a broom stick in half.
I use that name out of respect for what once put food on my family's plates, a roof over our heads and for what they are, one tough ass critter that doesn’t give up till the fat lady boils the water and they're cooked. So there ya go. Ain't much about me but I am a good ole Stone D Crab. Try and pull my body parts off and see what ya get <Grin> LOLHERD Member #00086
