Democrats Vote Down 5 Percent Rule

In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae a nd Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify.

His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, "passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it."

I'm going to go smash my head into the wall for a bit so I can get into the minset required to comprehend what you just said. wow. SOMEONE GET DODD A MEDAL, QUICK! what a friggin genius. I installed cabinets in the bathroom of a senator's house yesterday, I'll omit his identity but he's an Iowan and his name rhymes with nutsack. Despite his being a raging lib and I've not respected his "leadership" one bit to date, I was surprised that at the end of the wall where all his pics of him with the standard dc puppets, including him with dodd, the largest pic was his wife with Laura Bush. Kinda cool
