I'll bet those folks in Galveston start to tighten up a little when Storms come into the gulf.

If it goes in there , the folks along the oil spill line will have a complete mess on their hands. I would bet that storm takes a Northerly turn toward Corpus.

Red and Blue lines try to predict if it's a hurricane or tropical storm from a landfall perspective

They certainly do! Sad thing is my parents retired 8 years ago, lived in the Midwest and decided to move South....Real South!!! McAllen, Texas that is right on the dirty side of the projected path. Although they are 2-hours inland, but they will get the wind, rain and flooding!

I have them squared away and even gave them a generator couple years ago. Been on the phone daily with them (I normally do that anyway) but this time is to ensure they don't wait until the last minute to make final preparations.

The red lines are the most probable area for it to hit. They have warnings for a storm. The blue are still in the watch area.

Red is Hurricane Force Winds and Blue is only Tropical -

Boss, I have spent many a night in Mc Allen . And South Padre is no place to be for a storm.

You are correct! You just never know what it can do. During Katrina I had local boater friends moving their boats (via water as this are not trailer-able) towards the safer zone and were in the inter-coastal water zone in Lake Charles when the storm veered off and went directly towards them. They made it to shore and docked up but my buddy lost is 46' boat. If they would have stayed in Houston, it would have been OK. You just never know....

I've been through 4 storms down in Texas, Celia being the worst. Celia surprised everyone. So, yes, once they hit the coast and the outer bands start grabbing ahold of land, it can go anywhere. I just wish it would go in way East and pull the oil out of the Coastlines , and not push it into the wetlands.

Stupid rain, makin' me realize my front fender actually served a purpose....
It's not "derailed", as long as the last post relates to the post above it...it's just on a different rail, heading into a more interesting direction

We are starting to get oil on the beaches in MS now and this storm will likely add to the mess. Boss, hoping for the best for your folks.
