  • New comet visible this month

Anyone else here interested in Astronomy?
This should be a good event, naked eye within a week or two in the pre-dawn sky.

If you have a dark eastern horizon, take a look.

I was actually an Astronomy (well, Earth & Planetary Sci) major @ Pitt almost 40 years ago... I didn't pursue any career that direction, but I used to try to be an active amateur. Still have an 8" Meade 'scope. Haven't used it in years I'm ashamed to say - this might be an excuse to dust it off (hose more like).

Stuff like this still fascinates me. Comets are always cool.

                  "Patience alone is omnipotent!"

                  You'll have more chances...
Remember, comets always start really dim, and can bulid brightness quickly... each day is easier (as far as the object's luminosity), so don't give up!
                  It'll be worth it.

don't forget your Nike sneakers, Vlade! ..and didn't they have $5 worth of quarters in their pockets? I guess that was in case they got thirsty and needed a Coke on that Comet.

It is very fascinating. It never really sunk in with me how much we know until this class that I took.. but how small it is in the big picture. The level of comprehension just to understand a light year is amazing. Theres a lot that we haven't seen, but its been proven through mathematical proofs. You should dust that old telescope off.. I know I would!
