  • Hail storm

Found this video of the hail storm that hit Okc. this past Sunday. This is what baseball size hail will do to a pool, among other things.

I witnessed one of those back in 1988-89 in Sturgis SD during bike week and it sure caused a lot of damage.

Whoa! I'm surprised hail of that size didn't just tear up the trees. Josh, did you get that at your house?

no i was actually out riding when all that was going on lol...I live about 50 miles south of where all the action was. I had no idea it was going on I'm really glad it stayed north of me or i would have been caught in it.

Oh crap! What is a person to do if Baseball size hail catches up to you on a bike with no shelter around? Or any size hail for that matter.

I would think pulling over and look for the best cover you can...I have been caught in pea size hail and it stings pretty good I can just image what base ball size would do.

Yeah hopefully a barn or something is close enough. But it wouldn't take long for baseball size hail to take you out!

Best tip i can come up with is, if the sky/clouds from the storm look green find somewhere to ride it out until its over before it gets to you or you get to it. The green hue in the storm cell almost always indicates hail.

Good tip. Don't get hail too much here in Ky. Once in a while but not much. I think the biggest I ever saw was golf ball size.

Terminal velocity for a 3" hail is 88mph. Kills dogs, cats, stripes trees, birds and anything outside.
