Well, been riding for 42 years. I've had 40 bikes but I got my first pseudo-Harley, a 2003 Buell XB9S, in 2005. Then I bought my first real Harley, a 2004 XL1200R, which I still have. It wasn't till this year that I finally got a BT (08 FXSTB) and then I got carried away and got two more. I figured oh well, I'm almost retired, why not.
Most learn early. Some, like me, learn late. It took me a while to get around to H-D but I finally made it. I've had a lot of Japanese bikes, several German, and several Italian, before settling in with H-Ds. It's kind of hard to explain but I like being part (albeit small) of a motorcycling tradition. I love the feel and sound of the H-D motors -- that's also hard to explain.
I don't do much but work, ride and tinker. I'm not a mechanic but I'm pretty good with tools and I like doing my own m/c maintenance.
